A Cedar Key Christmas

Make your plans now to visit Cedar Key this holiday season. This will be our First Annual Cedar Key Christmas and there will be events and celebration for everyone.

The schedule below is a tentative list as plans are being made continuously. Please check back often for updates and new events!

A Cedar Key Christmas Event Schedule (Tentative) -

Nov. 19, 6pm World Champion Clam Chowder Awards Presentation to Tony's Seafood Restaurant at HW 24 and 2nd St. from 6-7p.m.
Nov. 21, 5-7pm Cedar Key Arts Center hosting the opening of the Mike Segal Exhibit and Giftable Art Show & Sale.  Everyone welcome.  Exhibit & sale run through December.
Nov. 24, 7pm Cedar Key School Junior Class pie auction at Cedar Key School Auditorium 7 p.m.
Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Day) Our goal is decorations up and lights on by Thanksgiving. There are over 60 that have confirmed they will be decorating. It appears there will be a decoration prize.
Contact Doreen at 352-543-8083 to be placed on the map of decorated properties.
Nov. 27 Tree lighting and handmade ornament decoration by children, singing, music, hot chocolate and cider.
Nov. 28 Women's Club fall sale event at clubhouse, 7391 SW SR 24
Dec. 1 Dilly Dally Gally Open House, prizes, refreshments, store wide sale.
Dec. 2, 10am-12pm Cedar Key Arts Center hosting annual Holiday Party and shell ornament workshop. Open to everyone for a "fee" of one dozen Christmas cookies to share.
Garden Club Christmas luncheon 1 pm at the Episcopal Church. Bring a dish to share and a plant to exchange.
Dec. 3, 7pm Cedar Key School Christmas (The small one) play 7 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Dec. 5, 9:00am Sand spit Nature Walk 9 am (wear old shoes)
Old St Nick's Gift Headquarters
Santa Gift Shop, local Art & Craft (contact Molly at 543-6231)
Movie in the park with hot chocolate and cookies.
MARINE CORPS TOYS FOR TOTS drop off at COCONUTS on the Dock: 11-5 p.m. (contact Paul 352-543-5234)
Dec. 7 Cedar Key Fire Department - "Santa Coming to Town" at the Cedar Key Community Center
Dec. 12, 9:00am - 5:00pm SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to inclement weather, all Dec. 12 events have been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19 beginning at 4:30pm. Details of event schedules to be posted when available.

Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar, Cookie Walk & Lunch.
Visions of Sugarplums Craft Fair, 9am-5pm, City Park (Vendor Sign-up Form or call Judy - 352-543-0300)

Followed by a very SPECIAL EVENING in Cedar Key:
CHRISTMAS BOAT PARADE (Prize for best decorated boat, contact Rose 352-215-6341). Register at the Cedar Key marina, inside boat ramp on Dock Street between 4:30-5:00pm.
SPECIAL DEDICATION OF SERVICE FLAG for Cedar Key Military.
WOMAN'S CLUB CAROLING
Christmas Art open house (Atelier Ten Tails) at 674 Second St., 2-8 p.m.
After the Parade, Pot Luck in the Park. Bring items to donate to the Cedar Key Food Pantry. Items needed: paper goods, toiletries and Cash. Also bring canned goods and/or slightly used clothing to donate.

Dec. 13 Church of Christ: CHRISTMAS SONG NIGHT. Everyone's invited. Bring a dish and share. Corner of 3rd and E Street.
Dec. 18 Capital City Bank CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY. Refreshments - 10am-3pm
The City of Cedar Key is having the City Appreciation Day for city employees and city volunteers. Luncheon from 11am to 1pm.
DeJa Vu on 2nd St. has OPEN HOUSE until 8pm.
Dec. 19, 9am-5pm & 7:00pm Jingle Bell Street Dance at 7:00pm in front of City Hall (contact Andrea: 352-543-6313)
Visions of Sugarplums Craft Fair 9am to 5pm (Vendor Sign-up Form or call Judy - 352-543-0300).
Hayride; Sponsored by the State Museum, call 352-543-5567 for reservations. Free hayride through the Cedar Key State Reserves - located six miles east of Cedar Key on S.R. 24. Learn about the natural communities and the wildlife at 12 noon and 2pm. The CEDAR KEY LIBRARY will have CLOWN/FACE PAINTING, REFRESHMENTS and the FRIENDS OF CEDAR KEY LIBRARY will present a brand-new Classic book to each child, age appropriate. Party is 1-2pm.
Dec. 24 The Cedar Key Methodist Church invites everyone to their CHRISTMAS PROGRAM at 7 pm. After the program we will be Caroling Downtown and other locations - S.R. 24 & 4th St.
Nov. 26 through Dec. 28 Cedar Key State Museum will be displaying four beautiful decorated Christmas Trees. Each tree is decorated by a different non-profit organization in the Cedar Key area. 10am to 5pm. Take S.R. 24 west into Cedar Key. Once in town, follow the official signs to the Museum at 12231 SW 166th Court.

The Cedar Key Chamber has received their SPECIAL 2009 CEDAR KEY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT. It is now available for purchase. Contact the Chamber at 352-543-5600.
