The Cedar Key Historical Society has been awarded a grant from the State of Florida, Division of Historic Preservation!
Funding will allow ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to locate unmarked graves in the Cedar Key Cemetery and the creation of a digital map that will assist the City of Cedar Key with the future management of the cemetery.
Dr. Edward Gonzalez-Tennant is a Professor in the Anthropology Department at the University of Central Florida and a Digital Archaeologist.
He will discuss this exciting project and the ongoing work at local cemeteries, including advanced computer mapping analysis to identify significant threats, such as storm surge and decay. Learn about this new technology which is freely available. A short demonstration will show attendees how to use them.
